Afghanistan - Khanabad

site plan for a hydropower plant

Afghanistan

Method

As a basis for planning work and a hydropower plant building project a local reference system and uniform topographic maps had to be generated for the entire project.

Services

The surveying work was carried out with two methods, a detailed terrestrial measurement (polar method) and a static GPS measurement.

  • Creation of a local reference system by the determination of fiducial points
  • Topographic surveying within the local reference system
  • GPS determination of at least three control points for the transformation of the local reference system to a higher level system
  • Determination of water level measuring stations for the canal
High-resolution satellite photographs: WorldView-2

Topographic services

  • High-resolution satellites, with a resolution of 0.5 meters, were provided for the area.
  • Generation of detailed position/as-built plans with a scale of 1:500
  • Photographic documentation of relevant surveying and topographic points
  • Provision of all data:
    digital and analog
    Local and global reference system
    CAD format (AutoCAD, DWG) and
    GIS format (ESRI, ArcGIS)
